Rocksteady Studios, renowned for the acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, has announced another round of layoffs, following the disappointing performance of its latest title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game's mixed reception and divisive post-launch content led to significant financial setbacks for both Rocksteady and its parent company, WB Games.

This latest wave of job cuts, reported by Eurogamer, impacts various teams within Rocksteady, including programming and art departments, in addition to further reductions in quality assurance (QA). This follows an earlier round of layoffs in September that halved the studio's QA staff. Affected employees, speaking anonymously to protect their prospects, confirm the recent job losses. Warner Bros. has yet to officially comment on these developments, mirroring their silence following the September cuts.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's financial underperformance, reported by Warner Bros. in February, directly contributed to these staffing reductions. The game's costly development and underwhelming sales figures have clearly had a lasting impact on the studio.

WB Games Montreal, developer of Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, also experienced layoffs in December, largely impacting QA staff who supported Suicide Squad's post-launch content. The final DLC, adding Deathstroke as a playable character, launched December 10th. With one last update planned for later this month, Rocksteady's future projects remain uncertain.
