Investigating vehicle collisions requires thorough data collection. The EDR "Blackbox" Scan Tool and PDF Accident Reports offered by Collision Sciences streamline this process. Using the CrashScan app with an OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth adapter, investigators can access and interpret crucial data from a vehicle's computer modules, including the Event Data Recorder (EDR), where supported.

CrashScan helps validate insurance claims and provides valuable insights into liability. It flags, captures, and interprets stored accident data, offering a lead indicator for questionable claims.

Vehicle Support (EDR & Full System Diagnostic Scan)

CrashScan supports over 3000 unique vehicle year/make/models internationally. Check support for your specific vehicle here: https://collisionsciences.ca/reports/check_support/

Contextual Accident Reports

A successful CrashScan provides detailed information on impact severity, orientation (front/rear/side), and crucial context including:

  • Accident severity (minor, moderate, or severe)
  • EDR trigger thresholds
  • 5 seconds of pre-crash data: speed, brake/accelerator pedal use, and steering
  • Number of occupants and seatbelt status
  • Estimated damage repair cost
  • Likelihood of structural crush damage
  • Injury risk thresholds (whiplash, injury duration)
  • Typical g-forces in daily activities for comparison

*Injury risk algorithms utilize stored acceleration values, scientific articles, and databases like the National Automotive Sampling System (NASS).
