Phom, also known as Ta La or Tu Lo Kho, is a beloved card game deeply ingrained in Vietnamese culture, particularly popular in the northern regions. In the south, it's referred to as Ta La, while in the north, it's called Phom. The objective of the game is to form sets of cards called "phom," which can be either three or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order or three cards of the same value. Players must strategically collect and discard cards to create these sets while minimizing the total score of cards not included in any phom. The game's use of a traditional 52-card deck, combined with its varied playing styles, adds to its allure. During family gatherings or festive occasions, Phom is a staple for entertainment among relatives and friends.

How to Play Phom - Ta La
- Number of Players: The game can be played with a minimum of two players and typically up to four. Each player receives nine cards, while the dealer or the previous winner gets ten. The remaining cards, known as the "stomach," are placed face down in the center.
- Gameplay: The game proceeds counterclockwise, starting with the player who has ten cards.
- The first player discards any card. The next player can either take this card to form a phom or draw a card from the stomach.
- After drawing or taking a card, the player discards one card, and the next player can then take it or draw from the stomach.
- This continues until someone achieves Ù. If no one achieves Ù, the game ends after four rounds, and the points from junk cards are tallied to determine the winner.
- Final Turn: Players must lay down all their phoms, send any cards they can to other players' phoms, and then discard their final card. Points are then calculated based on the remaining junk cards.
