007 First Light: Hitman Dev's New James Bond Game Revealed This Week

Finally, over five years after its initial announcement, we’re set to get our first real glimpse of IO Interactive’s James Bond game. Originally teased as Project 007, the official title has now been revealed as 007 First Light, with a game showcase expected this week.

In a recent post on Twitter/X, IO Interactive shared a striking silhouette image of what appears to be James Bond subtly illuminated by a single beam of light. The artwork features the text “First Light 007” and “Game reveal this week,” along with the hashtag #EarnTheNumber—likely hinting that the story follows Bond’s journey to earn his iconic 007 designation.

No additional details were included in the post, but it’s anticipated that the game will make its debut during one of the major presentations lined up for this week, as part of events like Summer Game Fest or Summer of Gaming—both staples of early June in the gaming calendar.

007 First Light was first announced in 2020 under the name Project 007, and since then, information has been scarce. What we do know is that it's an original James Bond origin story, not based on any specific film. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak previously expressed hopes that this title would kick off a new trilogy of Bond games.

Unfortunately, while the studio focuses on 007 First Light, the beloved Hitman series remains on hold. However, earlier this year, IO Interactive confirmed that the game will launch on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo Switch 2, expanding its reach to a wider range of players.
