The roguelike dungeon crawler sequel, Hades II, has launched its second major patch, The Warsong Update. This update propels protagonist Melinoë into the "Final Confrontation" beyond the Guardian of Olympus and introduces the bloodthirsty god of war, Ares. His Boons promise to add an exhilarating new dynamic to your gameplay.

In addition to Ares, the update brings a new animal familiar, new foes to battle, an updated Altar of Ashes featuring new art and Arcana effects, over 2,000 new voice lines, and fresh events to encounter. Players can also take a break from the relentless dungeon crawling to unwind in the Crossroads, enjoy all-new soundtracks, or even sing a melodic duet with Artemis.

Planning Ahead For The Third Major Update

Fresh off the release of The Warsong, developer Supergiant Games is already laying the groundwork for the third major update, slated for release "some months from now," according to their Steam news post. Hades II will remain in Early Access as the developers believe "it’s still too early to share our plans beyond that, including when our v1.0 launch will be." However, the full release might come sooner than expected, as they've noted that the core structure of both the Underworld and Surface routes is now essentially complete, with efforts now focused on enriching the existing content.

Following the rollout of all post-launch patches for The Warsong Update, Supergiant Games will shift their focus to these key initiatives:

• Hidden Aspects: The Nocturnal Arms harbor undiscovered secrets that players will eventually uncover and wield.
• Enhanced Guardians: Boss battles are crucial to the Hades II experience, and they will be refined "to challenge and surprise" players even more.
• Expanded Story: The remainder of Melinoë’s story is being planned, along with deeper inter-character relationships and subplots.
