Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a significant shift from their usual release strategies. Unlike previous titles in the series and other Ubisoft games, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch with a unified, actual release date, eliminating the option for early access through additional payment.
The game is set to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at 12am local time on March 20. However, PC players will have different release times depending on the platform—Steam or Ubisoft’s own Ubi Connect. Pre-loading is already available on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing eager fans to get ready ahead of time.
The anticipation surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows is immense, particularly following a series of delays and the underwhelming sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft has faced several challenges recently, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, adding to the pressure on Assassin’s Creed Shadows to perform well.
IGN's review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an 8/10, praising the game for refining its existing systems and delivering one of the best iterations of the open-world style Ubisoft has been perfecting over the past decade.
