Unveiling the Madness: April 2025 Release

Inspired by Belle Epoque France, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will launch on April 24, 2025. This announcement, made during the Xbox Developer Direct, confirmed the game's arrival on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Pre-orders are open! Secure your copy at $44.99 (standard) or $59.99 (Deluxe Edition) on the Xbox Store. Steam and PS5 offer a 10% discount ($44.99 and $53.99 respectively), though the Steam discount ends May 2nd, 2025, and the PS5 discount requires PlayStation Plus and expires at 3:00 PM (local time) on release day. New Faces, New Powers: Meet Monoco and Esquie

The full cast has been revealed, boasting seven playable characters and one dedicated to exploration. Joining the expedition are:

• Monoco: A friendly yet bloodthirsty Gestral who can transform into defeated enemies, leveraging their powers in combat. Gestrals are uniquely immune to the Paintress's influence.
• Esquie: A legendary, powerful being who, while not directly involved in combat, grants access to various locations on the open-world map. Collecting his special stones unlocks new abilities and areas.

The other playable characters – Gustave, Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Renoir, and Verso – were previously revealed.

Reactive Turn-Based Combat and Deep Character Customization

Sandfall Interactive has reinvented classic turn-based combat. The "reactive turn-based system" introduces real-time elements, allowing players to dodge or parry for devastating counterattacks. The difficulty adjusts the timing window for these actions.

Deep character customization is key. Each character possesses unique mechanics and skill trees. For example, Lune accumulates "Stain" to enhance her abilities. "Pictos," equipment modifiers, evolve into permanent Luminas (passive effects) after four battles, offering extensive build variety. Hundreds of build combinations are possible.
