The journey to bring the gritty, intense world of the original *Kane & Lynch* video game to the big screen has been long and fraught with challenges. Developed by the renowned Hitman studio, IO Interactive, and released in 2007, the game garnered a dedicated fanbase, sparking interest in a cinematic adaptation. Over the years, various Hollywood stars have been linked to the project, each adding a layer of excitement and anticipation to the potential film.
Recently, Timo Tjahjanto, the director behind the upcoming *Nobody 2*, shared intriguing insights on social media about his involvement with the *Kane & Lynch* film project. Tjahjanto revealed that he crafted a treatment for the movie, envisioning *Stranger Things'* David Harbour, known for his roles as Jim Hopper and Red Guardian in *Thunderbolts*/New Avengers, in one of the lead roles. Alongside Harbour, Tjahjanto had imagined James Badge Dale as part of the cast. Despite the compelling vision, Tjahjanto's treatment never progressed beyond the conceptual stage.
The *Kane & Lynch* movie project seems to be at a standstill, with Tjahjanto's treatment being just one of many ideas that never materialized. Over the years, the project saw significant talent attached to it, including Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx. However, both actors eventually withdrew as the script underwent numerous revisions. Another iteration of the project reportedly planned to feature Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel, but this too failed to come to fruition.
Following the release of the less-than-stellar sequel, *Kane & Lynch: Dog Days* in 2010, IO Interactive shifted its focus away from the series and concentrated on revitalizing its flagship *Hitman* franchise. As the *Kane & Lynch* film project languishes, fans of the game can only hope that one day their beloved characters will make it to the silver screen.
