The eerie whispers that have plagued Khazan throughout the game come to life in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, manifesting as the Blade Phantom. This boss tests your ability to balance stamina and aggression with its relentless attacks, marking your first multi-phase boss encounter.
The battle kicks off in a castle with floors awash in a crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks:
In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer that it brings down to cause damage and spawn red spikes. When using a spear, it throws it quickly before teleporting for a smash attack. If it wields a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing to parry or dodge these attacks allows you to counterattack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for Brutal Attacks. Continue this strategy until the boss's health drops to about half, triggering the transition to Phase 2.

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom initiates with four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from above. Evade the affected area after the spear lands, then prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.
While the boss retains many of its earlier moves, it introduces new claw attacks, a spear thrust, and swift dual-wielding attacks. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when wielding the greatsword, be alert for multiple slashes and the final Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this attack effectively, which not only restores your stamina but also leaves the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
Strategically, exploit moments when the Blade Phantom's stamina is depleted. Initiate Brutal Attacks just as the window for them is about to close to maximize damage. Successfully defeating the Blade Phantom rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
