Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a surprising departure from FromSoftware's tradition. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions leave insufficient time for players to leave or read messages, rendering the feature impractical.
While FromSoftware games have previously benefited significantly from player-to-player message interaction, the developers deemed it unsuitable for Nightreign.
To respect the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. It offers a fresh adventure filled with new challenges and encounters, while preserving the captivating atmosphere and complex world design of its predecessor.
