At Droid Gamers, we receive an array of gadgets, but a projector like the Formovie Episode One, which can stream mobile games onto a larger screen, caught our attention. Priced to fit tighter budgets, the Episode One manages to deliver on its promise and more, despite a few hiccups.
Right out of the box, you'll find the projector, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it might not have the robust feel of pricier models, its lighter weight of just three pounds makes it highly portable, perfect for taking on the go.
For connectivity, the Episode One comes equipped with a single USB-A port, an HDMI port, and an audio jack. Although limited, these ports should suffice for most users, especially considering the cost.
In terms of performance, the Episode One offers 150 ISO lumens, which isn't the most luminous, but it's decent for the price. Our testing revealed it struggled under direct sunlight, but it performed admirably in darker settings, as expected.
We found that movies, TV shows, and streamed games displayed clearly on this projector. For optimal image quality, it's best to position the projector at least 10 feet from the screen. The sound output, while functional, comes from a tinny in-built speaker. For a better audio experience, we recommend connecting an external speaker.
The user interface of the Episode One is commendable, especially for its price range. Its straightforward design makes it easier to navigate than some of the more expensive, complex projectors we've tested.
All in all, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any one area, but it's a reliable all-rounder that meets the needs of most casual users.
