HBO has announced the casting for the lead roles in the much-anticipated Harry Potter television series, bringing fresh faces to beloved characters. Dominic McLaughlin will take on the iconic role of Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout have been cast as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner, along with director Mark Mylod, expressed their excitement in a joint statement: “After an extensive search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are thrilled to announce that we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three remarkable actors is truly exceptional, and we can't wait for audiences to see their magic come to life on screen. We extend our gratitude to the tens of thousands of children who auditioned; it has been a privilege to witness such a wealth of young talent.”

In April, Warner Bros. and HBO unveiled the first six actors set to portray Hogwarts' iconic professors in the new series. John Lithgow, known for his roles in Conclave and Dexter, will play Albus Dumbledore, a role he confirmed earlier this year. He shared his thoughts with ScreenRant at the Sundance Film Festival: "I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film, and it was not an easy decision because it’s going to define me for the last chapter of my life, I’m afraid. But I’m very excited. Some wonderful people are turning their attention back to Harry Potter. That’s why it’s been such a hard decision. I’ll be about 87 years old at the wrap party, but I’ve said yes."

Joining Lithgow are Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. These actors are set to bring new life to characters that have become staples in pop culture.
