Star Wars enthusiasts have reason to celebrate: Lucasfilm has revived its ambitious initiative to chart the sci-fi universe, unveiling an exquisitely detailed galactic map featuring over 500 planets.
Ever calculated the distance between Tatooine and Hoth? Pondered how secluded Yoda truly was in Dagobah's swamps? Or questioned Jakku's remoteness from the galactic core? The answers now lie at your fingertips.
The updated map reveals more of the enigmatic Unknown Regions – including Exegol, the Sith stronghold from The Rise of Skywalker where Rey's quest required aligning an ancient dagger with the ruins of the Death Star. Had this cartographic resource existed in-universe, certain plot points might have felt less convoluted.
Despite its cinematic portrayal as an arduous destination (that somehow became easily accessible), Exegol isn't even the map's outermost world. The Unknown Regions also feature Csilla, home planet of the elusive Chiss species – best represented by their iconic leader, Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Some notable locations remain absent, particularly those existing beyond the primary galaxy's boundaries. Missing entries include Kamino (the clone production facility) and Peridea (Ahsoka's intergalactic destination).
Lucasfilm promises ongoing updates to this living atlas, with plans to release specialized sector maps focusing on densely populated zones like the Inner Rim, Colonies, and Core systems.

The Star Wars slate continues with Ahsoka Season 2, The Mandalorian & Grogu's cinematic debut, and Ryan Gosling's anticipated appearance in 2027's Star Wars: Starfighter.
