Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, set in Moscow's Turgenevskaya station (as seen in the books and real life). This mission often trips up players due to unclear objectives and a confusing station layout. The mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde in the preceding mission, with Khan leading Artyom to the next station via railcar.
Locating the Bomb
The defenders at the barricaded escalators explain that an explosives team vanished while attempting to collapse the tunnel, preventing further nosalis attacks. Artyom's task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for help if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows to prevent damage. Retrieve the bomb and either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) and wait for the cutscene. Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse; escape immediately to avoid the blast. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will also collapse the tunnel. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes.
Securing the Airlock
The mission isn't complete until the airlock is destroyed. This is located upstairs, in the torchlit area to the right of the main platform. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns to plant a pipe bomb. Evacuate quickly after lighting the fuse. With both the tunnel and airlock destroyed, follow Khan to the shrine room, where the "Armory" mission begins.
