The cast lineup for Star Wars: Starfighter is coming together, with Ryan Gosling reportedly joined by Mia Goth in the upcoming sci-fi epic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goth—recognized for her chilling performances as Maxine Minx and Pearl in the X horror franchise—will portray an antagonist in Shawn Levy's Star Wars film. The Deadpool & Wolverine director will begin shooting in England this autumn ahead of the movie's scheduled May 28, 2027 release.
Gosling reportedly plays a guardian forced to defend his young nephew from dangerous adversaries, including Goth's mysterious character. Lucasfilm has declined to provide official confirmation.
Positioned within the Star Wars chronology, Starfighter unfolds five years after The Rise of Skywalker's events while maintaining its standalone nature. Scheduled as the next theatrical Star Wars release following 2026's The Mandalorian and Grogu, Starfighter coincidentally shares its name with early-2000s PlayStation/Xbox video games—though narrative connections appear unlikely.
While The Rise of Skywalker concluded with Palpatine's defeat, Starfighter will explore the galaxy's uncertain state during the intervening years before Daisy Ridley's return as Rey—a storyline set approximately 15 years later—in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's sequel focusing on the Jedi Order's revival.
