Build A Rocket Boy, the developer behind MindsEye, has released an exciting new trailer, confirmed the game's $59.99 price tag, and provided detailed insights into what players can expect at launch. Led by former Rockstar North veteran Leslie Benzies, the studio has set a June 10, 2025 release date for MindsEye, which will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Set in the near-futuristic city of Redrock, MindsEye offers a tightly crafted linear story campaign. Players will step into the shoes of Jacob Diaz, a former soldier grappling with fragmented memories from his mysterious MindsEye neural implant. As Jacob, players will uncover a gripping conspiracy involving rogue AI, corporate greed, an unchecked military, and a sinister threat that endangers humanity's survival. The game's narrative is brought to life with stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.

One of the most intriguing aspects of MindsEye is its PC-only game creation system, which allows players to craft their own experiences using the game's assets. This feature adds a unique layer of creativity and engagement for the community.

The $59.99 price point is described by the studio as "a refreshing departure from the standard $70~$80 AAA price tag." For this price, players will get a comprehensive package at launch, including the linear story campaign, "single-player free roam," and a variety of missions. These include a horde mode mission called "Destruction Site Shootout," and two combat missions, "Honor Amongst Thieves" and "Friendly Fire." Additionally, there are six races, six checkpoint races, and three drone races. Premium pass holders will receive an extra horde mode mission and an exotic cosmetics pack.

The cost of video games remains a hot topic in the industry, especially following Nintendo's increase to $80 for Mario Kart World and Microsoft's plans to follow suit this holiday season. Other companies are expected to raise prices, with Gearbox's Borderlands 4 at the center of debate after comments from Randy Pitchford. However, some mid-range games priced at $50, like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and 2K's upcoming Mafia: The Old Country, have seen significant success. MindsEye positions itself as a middle ground, offering substantial content at a competitive price.

Looking beyond the launch, Build A Rocket Boy promises a "constant stream" of fresh premium content delivered monthly. This ongoing support will include new missions, challenges, and game assets, ensuring that MindsEye remains a dynamic and evolving experience. The studio's vision is to blend its own content with the best community creations, promising to surprise and delight players for years to come.

Build A Rocket Boy has also outlined its 2025 content roadmap. Summer will bring community updates and new missions, followed by new single-player modes, multiplayer, and additional missions in the fall. Winter will see free roam updates and even more new missions. Premium pass owners can look forward to exclusive missions and new packs throughout the year.
