Netflix and Supercell have exciting news for fans of the Clash franchise: they are bringing the beloved world of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale to the small screen with a new animated series. Currently in pre-production, the series promises to expand on the chaos and excitement found in the games. According to a press release from Netflix, the plot will revolve around a determined Barbarian who, despite being in over his head, must lead a group of misfits to defend their village and navigate the humorously convoluted politics of war.
The announcement was celebrated across the official Clash of Clans social media channels with a playful teaser video. The post on X (formerly Twitter) read, "Sound the horns, raise the banners, and reinforce your village walls — Clash is invading @Netflix! We’re making a new animated series starring your favorite mustachioed Barbarian and his high-pitched, hog-riding friends. Charge!" The teaser featured the game developers in a lighthearted FaceTime call, announcing the series with enthusiasm.
John Derderian, Netflix's VP of Animation, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, "Clash has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade – filled with humor, action, and unforgettable characters perfect for an animated series adaptation." He emphasized the collaboration with Supercell and the creative team, including Fletcher Moules and Ron Weiner, to bring the vibrant world of Clash to life in a fresh and engaging manner. "We can’t wait for fans - old and new - to experience the mayhem," Derderian added.
While the series is still in pre-production and no release date has been announced, anticipation is high. Netflix has a track record of successful video game adaptations, including hits like Arcane, based on League of Legends, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, based on Cyberpunk 2077. The streamer's portfolio also includes adaptations of Resident Evil, Tekken, Tomb Raider, Dragon's Dogma, Dragon Age, and Castlevania, among others.
