Pikmin Bloom is set to host a vibrant celebration this October with a special Day of the Dead event. Also known as Día de Muertos, this update brings the festive spirit of the Mexican holiday into the game.
Día de Muertos is a traditional Mexican festival held on November 1st and 2nd. Families honor departed loved ones by creating ofrendas—altars adorned with flowers, photographs, favorite foods, and decorative calavera designs, accompanied by parades and music.
Pikmin Bloom, however, is beginning the Day of the Dead festivities early. The event will run from October 1st through October 31st, 2025. Here’s a complete rundown of what to expect during the celebration.
The event introduces Calavera Decor Pikmin, which you can earn by completing Event Challenge missions. Finishing these missions also grants random rewards, including Flickering Candles—special seedlings that grow into Calavera Decor Pikmin, provide flower petals, or offer other bonuses.
Each time the Big Flower at the center of the stage blooms, you’re guaranteed a Gold Seedling along with the random drops. Seedlings collected this way can develop into one of seven unique Calavera Decor Pikmin types.
As with other Pikmin Bloom events, mushroom battles are a key part of the Day of the Dead festivities. You’ll encounter Colorful Mushrooms that drop Mystery Boxes containing items like Flickering Candles.
Calavera Decor Pikmin are especially effective in mushroom battles, making them a top choice for your squad. On weekends, Giant Colorful Mushrooms will appear, offering rarer Mystery Boxes and allowing the use of the Mushroom Battle Bullhorn up to three times per day.
