In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, triggering quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin "For Science!", locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area within the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear Mongoose radio Skif, requesting a meeting at the building.

Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, vault the railing, and speak with Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, requiring simultaneous activation of both. Agreeing to his request launches the "For Science!" mission.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows offers access to an external walkway and ladder. Descend to the silos, equipping your bolt gun to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the measuring device.

Activating the device will attract Bloodsuckers. Choose between eliminating them or evading them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse; however, choosing the peaceful option rewards the pass and coupons. The pass unlocks access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
