Genki, renowned for its gaming accessories, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing key details about Nintendo's next-gen console. Based on a black market acquisition, the mockup accurately reflects the Switch 2's dimensions, showcasing a larger form factor closer to the Steam Deck.
Key features highlighted include magnetic Joy-Cons, a second USB-C port, and an intriguing new "C" button. Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the magnetic Joy-Con design in an interview with The Verge, explaining that a button on each Joy-Con releases a pin, disengaging the magnetic connection. Despite the change from sliding rails, the Joy-Cons remain securely attached during gameplay.

The mockup also revealed optical sensors integrated into each Joy-Con's mounting channel. This suggests potential functionality as a mouse, supported by recently leaked images showing similar sensors.
While larger than its predecessor, the Switch 2 remains thin enough to fit within the existing Switch dock. However, design differences prevent compatibility. The purpose of the extra USB-C port and the "C" button remains a mystery, even to Genki.
