Nintendo Addresses Switch 2 Leaks from CES 2025

Nintendo has issued an uncommon statement regarding the recent spate of Switch 2 leaks originating from CES 2025. The company confirmed that the circulating images are not official, citing their absence from the event. This brief comment, while seemingly obvious, represents a rare public acknowledgment of product leaks by Nintendo.

The Switch 2 has been the subject of numerous leaks since late 2024, coinciding with reports of its entry into mass production. A notable leak emerged from accessory manufacturer Genki, who displayed a purported Switch 2 replica at CES 2025. Images of this model quickly spread across social media.

In response to inquiries from the Sankei Shimbun, Nintendo officially declared the Genki replica "not official." This clarification emphasized Nintendo's non-participation in CES 2025, rendering any Switch 2 imagery from the show unofficial promotional material.

Genki's Replica: Accurate or Not?

While Nintendo didn't comment on the replica's accuracy, its design aligns with previous leaks and rumors. The most significant difference from the original Switch is the inclusion of an additional button, labeled "C," located below the right Joy-Con's home button. Its function remains unknown.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai offered additional speculation, suggesting magnetic Joy-Con attachment and mouse-like controller functionality—claims supported by other sources.
