The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a top-tier drive for your gaming PC or PlayStation 5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, boasting sequential read and write speeds up to 7,250MB/s and 6,300MB/s respectively. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This is a DRAM-less drive. For PS5 gaming, this makes no difference whatsoever. On PCs, it utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), cleverly using a tiny amount of your system RAM—a difference completely imperceptible to gamers.
