Here's the official description from IDW for issue #5:

The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery and climactic conclusion! The streets of New York are engulfed in an all-out war, leaving no one safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno find themselves in the crosshairs. Will they all survive? The fate of these beloved characters rests in the hands of the iconic writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as they draw the curtains on this chapter of The Last Ronin!

In a 2024 interview with IGN, Kevin Eastman shared insights on updating the characters: "One of the things we aimed to do was to really refresh the characters. With two male and two female Turtle characters, Tom and I tried to capture what modern teenagers might think, say, and do. There's a diverse mix of personalities, much like the original Turtles. They might argue, spat, and disagree, but when it comes to working as a team, the heart and soul of the family always unite them. That's the foundation of any Turtles story we tell."
