Marlon Wayans: Faris, Hall Back for Scary Movie 6

Great news alert: Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially reprising their roles for Scary Movie 6, bringing back the iconic duo we all love.

On August 15, franchise veteran Marlon Wayans—co-writer of the reboot and original star—teased their return by posting a throwback image from the first film on Instagram, captioning it with just the eye emoji and "SM6."

Following an 18-year break, the legendary Wayans Brothers (Marlon and Damon) have reunited to co-write the script for the sixth installment of this cult horror-comedy series they famously starred in. They're collaborating with writer Ricky Alvarez.

The franchise was originally created by Marlon alongside brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans, who directed the first two films (2000's Scary Movie and its 2001 sequel). David Zucker later helmed films three and four, working with writers Pat Proft, Jim Abrahams, and Chernobyl's Craig Mazin. The fifth entry was directed by Malcolm D. Lee, with Zucker and Proft returning as writers.

Fans are now speculating whether other franchise favorites like Simon Rex, Chris Elliott, and Anthony Anderson might join Hall and Faris—whose perfect comedic chemistry drove the early films' success.

Michael Tiddes, known for directing the Wayans Brothers in A Haunted House series, will helm Scary Movie 6, scheduled for theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
