Stellar Blade, the first non-gacha game from Shift Up to be released in the US, has garnered attention for its challenging soulslike gameplay, stunning graphics, captivating soundtrack, and its distinctive character design.

In our review, Mitchell Saltzman noted that "Stellar Blade is a visually stunning and well-crafted action game with notable strengths and weaknesses. While the story and characters could use more depth, and some RPG elements like sidequests feel repetitive, the game's combat system, inspired by Sekiro, is robust and engaging. The variety of enemies and hidden treasures further enhance the exploration aspect." IGN gave Stellar Blade a 7/10, but personally, I found it even more enjoyable and would rate it higher. Although it didn't make it onto our list of the best PS5 games of 2024 due to its recent release (games must be out for at least 6 months), it's still a standout title.

Stellar Blade is a demanding game, and I recommend running it in "Performance" mode to maintain a smooth 60fps. If you're lucky enough to own a PlayStation 5 Pro, you can experience the game in "Enhanced" 4K mode, achieving great frame rates. According to the official PlayStation blog, "With PS5 Pro, players can enjoy Stellar Blade in 4K resolution at 50fps or higher, with smoother gameplay. You'll also notice improved grain and detail in PSSR upscale mode. Plus, the HFR option supports gameplay at 80fps with a 120Hz display."
