The Star Wars LEGO collection has grown significantly over the years. As of January 2025, there are 78 LEGO Star Wars sets available at the LEGO store, representing nearly every movie and show in the series.
LEGO sets often mimic real-world objects with remarkable accuracy, showcasing the ingenuity of fitting bricks, rods, pins, and gears into functional designs. However, Star Wars LEGO sets, particularly the larger ones, seem to be inherently suited to the LEGO form. The 4784-piece Imperial Star Destroyer, for example, looks authentically like a Star Destroyer rather than a "LEGO-ized" version. This synergy is partly due to the angular design of Star Wars vehicles and droids, which align well with the LEGO aesthetic, and the meticulous "greebling" that adds intricate surface details, making the models appear more functional and visually interesting. Star Wars LEGO sets thus occupy a unique and revered position in the LEGO universe.
