Ubisoft has unveiled new details about the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, specifically highlighting the equipment and progression systems for Yasuke and Naoe. A significant enhancement to the iconic Hidden Blade is also promised.
Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their distinct combat styles: Yasuke's focuses on samurai techniques, while Naoe's emphasizes shinobi skills. Players allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine fighting styles. Mastery points, earned by completing open-world objectives and defeating challenging enemies like Daisyo samurai, fuel this progression.
Balanced character growth is ensured, preventing either Yasuke or Naoe from falling significantly behind the other. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as investigating a mysterious shinobi group. Other upgrades are tied to the "Knowledge" system, advanced by studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.
The game features a five-tier equipment system (common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary), with gear upgradable and visually customizable at a blacksmith. Armor and weapon perks can significantly alter gameplay.
The Hidden Blade returns with its signature one-hit kill capability. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
