Dead by Daylight Devs Unveil Authentic Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay in New Chapter

Behaviour Interactive has unveiled an exciting new addition to *Dead by Daylight* with the introduction of Springtrap, a character deeply rooted in the lore of *Five Nights at Freddy's*. Set to launch on June 17, 2025, this new Killer promises to bring a thrilling experience that resonates with fans of both franchises. In an exclusive reveal to IGN, Behaviour Interactive shared detailed insights into Springtrap's abilities and mechanics ahead of the Chapter's public test build (PTB), which is available today.

Springtrap, known as The Animatronic in *Dead by Daylight*, embodies the eerie charm of a stalking, axe-wielding yellow rabbit. This character introduces a novel jump scare mechanic, enhancing the horror element unique to *Dead by Daylight*. The studio claims this Chapter to be one of the most significant yet, largely due to Springtrap's inclusion. His backstory within the *Five Nights at Freddy's* universe, while complex, allows Behaviour Interactive to innovate and surprise fans with new interpretations of the character.

Springtrap wields a giant pizza knife as his primary weapon, but it's his fire axe Power that truly sets him apart. This axe can be used as an area of effect (AOE) tool to reveal Survivors, and if thrown accurately, it can stick in a Survivor's back, setting the stage for a *Five Nights at Freddy's*-style jump scare when Springtrap retrieves it. Enhancing the character's appeal, actor Matthew Lillard lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic's Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional outfits include the Legendary Glitchtrap, Very Rare Clown Springtrap, and Toxic Springtrap, along with Freddy Fazbear's t-shirts for Survivors.

While Springtrap is a major draw, the new Chapter also introduces the iconic Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria map. This detailed recreation of the famous pizza restaurant includes familiar areas such as the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, complete with appearances by Bonnie and Chica. The map not only serves as a new playground for Survivors and Killers but also hides Easter Eggs and jump scares, adding layers of intrigue and excitement.

The experience of *Five Nights at Freddy's* extends beyond the new map. On any map, when facing Springtrap, Survivors will encounter security doors, cameras, and a special office, all reminiscent of the original game. These features not only pay homage to the *Five Nights at Freddy's* gameplay but also provide strategic tools for Survivors to track Springtrap's movements, provided they manage their battery power wisely.
