Dune: Awakening has surpassed 1 million copies sold within two weeks.

Developer Funcom shared the milestone earlier today, highlighting both the game's strong launch with "very positive" Steam reviews and its status as the studio's fastest-selling title to date. According to the announcement, over 1 million players "have awakened" since release.

"Dune: Awakening launched on June 10th and already 1,000,000 players have awakened!" the studio stated. "This makes it Funcom's fastest-selling game ever. For comparison, Conan Exiles took a full year to reach this milestone. We're genuinely moved and grateful for this reception. Clearly, players aren't sleeping on this game.

"The launch has been like riding a Coriolis storm, and we're still caught in its powerful winds. We've witnessed incredible player moments - creative base builds, narrow escapes from Shai-Hulud, spectacular vehicle stunts, hard-fought struggles, discoveries, triumphs, valiant deaths, and much more... We salute you, Sleepers."

PlayThe survival RPG achieved impressive concurrent player numbers shortly after launch, peaking at 142,000 simultaneous players in its first hours and reaching 189,333 players during last weekend. Our review scored Dune: Awakening 8/10, praising: "Dune: Awakening brilliantly adapts Frank Herbert's sci-fi universe into an outstanding survival MMO. The journey from parched peasant to Arrakis warlord proves consistently engaging, while the rich storytelling delights franchise fans.

"That said, certain areas need refinement. Combat lacks polish, endgame content feels disorganized, and technical issues persist. Still, these shortcomings feel minor compared to the game's monumental achievements."

The developer has acknowledged player concerns about Deep Desert PvP, which some have criticized for toxic griefing behavior. While Funcom already removed the ability to crush players with Ornithopters, senior game director Viljar Sommerbakk hinted at further aerial vehicle adjustments, possibly including rocket weapons that would "reduce maneuverability and maximum speed."
