The success story at Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop continues to unfold, with the company announcing a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus to be distributed among its staff.
Headquartered in Nottingham, UK, Games Workshop, the mastermind behind the renowned Warhammer tabletop games and their expansive universes, reported a robust financial performance for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025. The company's core revenue soared to £560 million, a significant increase from the £494.7 million recorded in the prior period. Licensing revenue also saw a notable jump, reaching £50 million from £31 million. Core profit stood at £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit climbed to £45 million from £27 million, culminating in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, up from £203 million.
In light of these impressive financial achievements and as a tribute to the dedication of its workforce, Games Workshop has decided to distribute £20 million among its employees, an increase from the £18 million bonus given out the previous year. With an estimated staff count of around 1,500, this translates to a substantial £13,333 (approximately $18,000) bonus per employee.
While Games Workshop's primary revenue stream remains the sale of miniatures for tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, the company is increasingly leveraging its intellectual property. This shift is evident with the significant revenue generated from blockbuster video games, such as last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations like Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. The collaboration between Games Workshop and Amazon has culminated in a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will produce films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development.Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that the record licensing revenue achieved in this period may not be replicated in the 2025/26 fiscal year, yet remains committed to this lucrative sector. The Warhammer franchise, encompassing both Warhammer 40,000 and other iterations, continues to grow, showing no signs of slowing down based on these stellar results.
Games Workshop recently hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, which featured exciting announcements and trailers. Key highlights included the launch of a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of a Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
