In a video posted on his YouTube channel on May 8, Kamiya responded to fan queries about potential remakes and sequels, sparking excitement among the gaming community.

The trend of remaking classic games has surged in popularity, with iconic titles like Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill 2, and Resident Evil 4 receiving modern updates. Kamiya's interest in revisiting Devil May Cry adds another significant entry to this list. When asked about his vision for a DMC remake, Kamiya enthused, "A remake like that, well, I would like to do that."

Originally released in 2001, Devil May Cry was initially conceived as Resident Evil 4. However, significant shifts in its development led Capcom to transform it into the action-packed Devil May Cry we know today.

Reflecting on the game's origins, Kamiya revealed that the inspiration for DMC stemmed from a personal experience. In 2000, following a painful breakup, he channeled his emotions into the creation of the game, which became a cathartic outlet for his feelings.

Despite not replaying his games after their release, Kamiya occasionally encounters gameplay clips that remind him of Devil May Cry's age and its dated design elements. If given the chance to remake DMC, he would approach it with modern technology and contemporary game design principles, essentially building it from the ground up.

Currently, Kamiya's thoughts on a DMC remake are not at the forefront of his mind, as he prefers to focus on concrete projects. Yet, he remains open to the possibility, stating, "But if the time comes— I’ll come up with something. That’s what I do." In addition to DMC, Kamiya has expressed interest in remaking another of his classics, Viewtiful Joe. These revelations have sparked hope among fans that these cherished titles may return in a refreshed form in the near future.
