Milly Alcock, known for her portrayal of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spinoff series "House of the Dragon," faced an early challenge in her role. The Australian actress shared on The Tonight Show that just two days into filming, a high-ranking individual on set suggested she needed acting coaching. "On my second day on House of the Dragon, one of the, I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up, pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach,’" Alcock recounted, adding that she was "mortified" by the feedback.
Despite the initial setback, Alcock humorously reflected on the incident, saying it "just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job," though she clearly meant it in jest. "I was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.’"
Alcock's career continues to soar as she is set to portray Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in the upcoming Superman movie this summer, as well as in next year's "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." In "House of the Dragon," she played King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir as a series regular in Season 1 and made a guest appearance in Season 2, which chronicles the decline of House Targaryen. The role of the adult Rhaenyra Targaryen, who ascends to become Queen, is played by Emma D’Arcy.
The series premiered in August 2022, shortly after the conclusion of the original Game of Thrones. "House of the Dragon" quickly garnered acclaim, securing a second season renewal just days after its debut and a third season renewal in June 2024 before the second season even aired. The show's success was further recognized with a Golden Globe win for Best Television Series — Drama.
Looking ahead, while "House of the Dragon" is confirmed for a third season, fans are still awaiting an official release date.
