A newly uncovered patent has sparked speculation that a sequel to Ring Fit Adventure could be in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. The patent, filed by Nintendo at the end of May 2025 and recently published, is listed under "video game controllers (accessories)." While all images in the filing remain redacted for now, the document identifies Nintendo employee Fumiyoshi Suetake as the designer—signaling a strong connection to a potential fitness-focused accessory.

Suetake played a pivotal role in the creation of the original Ring Fit Adventure, the 2019 fitness RPG that has since sold over 15 million copies worldwide. The game launched with a unique pilates ring and leg strap, using resistance and motion sensing to turn physical exercise into in-game actions. His involvement in the new patent strongly suggests that this upcoming controller could be tied to a follow-up experience.

Further supporting the theory, Nintendo recently extended the patent for the original Ring Fit Adventure hardware—indicating ongoing investment in the platform. Additionally, Foxconn, a key manufacturing partner for Nintendo, has revealed development work on new "force sensing technology" for a major gaming company. Accompanying this announcement was a diagram depicting a device strikingly similar to the Ring Fit ring, hinting at an updated version in the works.

Together, these developments point toward a new Ring Fit Adventure title being developed alongside the Switch 2. Given the original game’s success—especially during peak demand for at-home fitness in 2020—a sequel would be a strategic move for Nintendo to expand its family-friendly, active gaming lineup.

"Ring Fit Adventure offers an inventive fitness RPG that doesn’t quite have all the moves," IGN noted in its original review, applauding the game’s "fun and challenging blend of exercise and RPG mechanics."
