The Switch 2 is already amassing an impressive lineup of upcoming games, featuring a mix of new exclusives and enhanced re-releases. Heavyweights like Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) and Mario Kart World ($79.99) are leading the charge, available for preorder now, alongside upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, optimized for the new hardware. Additionally, new versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and the Forgotten Land are up for grabs, along with exciting third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Sonic X Shadow Generations.
Note that not all titles will be available on launch day, June 5. Some games are set to release later; for instance, Donkey Kong Bananza won't hit shelves until July 17. Major titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are currently missing from preorder listings on both Switch 2 and the current model.
For those interested in new Switch 2 accessories, today is the perfect day to start shopping. From the new Joy-Con 2 and Switch 2 Pro controllers to a camera and more, you can enhance your gaming experience with these new additions.
Nintendo has confirmed the upgrade costs for two more Switch games to their Switch 2 editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. Upgrading from the original Switch edition to the Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $9.99. However, upgrading Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will be more than double that price. While U.S. prices are not yet available on the American Nintendo eShop, the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for Zelda upgrades.

It's been revealed that nearly all physical third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games in Japan are Game-Key Cards, and it appears the same trend is emerging in the West. In the US, Sega's Switch 2 games, such as Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, are listed as Game-Key Cards. So far, only four third-party physical Switch 2 games have been found that aren't Game-Key Cards: Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition.
IGN recently had the chance to go hands-on with two of the most anticipated Switch 2 launch titles, Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. Both are available for preorder now, and here's what our reviewers had to say:
Donkey Kong Bananza: "I also think Bananza is on track to be one of the most gorgeous Nintendo games I’ve seen. It really does take advantage of Switch 2's hardware – the environments are beautiful and DK’s animations are wonderfully expressive, and I left feeling like the next generation of first-party Nintendo games had truly arrived."
Mario Kart World: "Mario Kart World feels like the definitive Switch 2 launch game and will certainly be one of the defining games of the Switch 2 generation. The new open world format and Knockout Tour modes are massive new additions to the franchise, the visuals are gorgeous, the gameplay is a blast, and we can’t wait to play more, even if we wish it was a few bucks cheaper."
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for game releases. Alongside the Switch 2, there are numerous other great games on the horizon. Here are some of our other preorder guides to keep you informed about upcoming releases:
