In an exclusive, IGN has learned that Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in both Orlando and Hollywood will feature a new haunted house based on Prime Video's *Fallout* series, and the Five Nights at Freddy's experience will draw inspiration from the film. The latter will be brought to life with assistance from the legendary Jim Henson's Creature Shop, which also created the animatronics for the movie.

While details on the Five Nights at Freddy's attraction remain scarce, the *Fallout* haunted house will launch on August 29 at Universal Orlando Resort and on September 4 at Universal Studios Hollywood. It will immerse fans in pivotal moments from the first season of *Fallout* and beyond.

Guests will initially enter Vault 33 and follow Lucy MacLean as she escapes a brutal massacre while uncovering a "sinister hidden secret." The journey then leads outside the vault into the Wasteland, where attendees must evade attacks from Scavengers, Raiders, and even mutated cockroaches called RAD Roaches. As visitors traverse the Wasteland, they will explore the Super Duper Mart, come face-to-face with the Ghoul, and encounter Maximus in his imposing T-60 power armor.

For deeper insight into this thrilling and chilling expedition into the nuclear wasteland, we spoke with John Murdy, Creative Director/Executive Producer at Universal Studios Hollywood, and Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director at Universal Orlando Resort, during IGN Live. As devoted *Fallout* enthusiasts, they shared how their teams are pulling out all the stops to deliver the ultimate *Fallout* experience.

"As guests navigate these environments, we want fans to exclaim, 'I recognize this—I'm inside a Fallout vault! How awesome is that?!'" Flood remarked. "Where else can you walk through a Fallout vault, emerge into the Wasteland, and encounter ghouls in person?

"You can grasp the state of the world just by observing your surroundings, including the corpses Lucy discovers upon leaving the vault. This level of detail aligns perfectly with Halloween Horror Nights—yes, it's gruesome, which our fans expect. It's frightening, packed with memorable characters, terrifying monsters, mutated creatures, and ghouls. This material is a perfect fit for Halloween Horror Nights."

Furthermore, *Fallout* presents an opportunity for the team to explore entirely new creative territory.

"Fallout has a retro-futuristic vibe, with strong 1950s aesthetics," Murdy noted. "Engaging with the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust is thrilling for us, as we've never tackled anything like it at HHN before. It feels like we're delving into a completely different dimension of horror."

Interestingly, the Hollywood and Orlando locations will each offer unique elements within their *Fallout* experiences, even regarding the T-60 power armor.

"It's enormous," Murdy said of the T-60 Armor. "We've collaborated closely with the *Fallout* production team, who've provided us with an incredible volume of assets. We've undertaken many large-scale projects over the years at Horror Nights, but this is arguably one of the most ambitious. We also thought it would be great if both parks shared key features while having distinct differences. For Hollywood, the Power Armor is a complete animatronic; we're implementing it as a fully animated figure."

"In Orlando, we've built a climactic battle sequence," Flood added. "I won't divulge too much, but yes, T-60s will play a role in that conflict. We also managed to incorporate Filly, and I believe having an authentic *Fallout* battle unfold in real life is incredibly exciting."

Murdy also hinted that each *Fallout* haunted house will showcase unique "creature interpretations," with Hollywood's highlight being the terrifying Yao Guai Bear.

Amidst ghouls, mutated bears, and murderous scavengers, this haunted house is designed to be chaotic. However, Flood, Murdy, and their team have meticulously crafted an experience that goes beyond relentless scares. Murdy revealed that his writing treatments for this *Fallout* attraction averaged 100 pages, including both a narrative guide and a comprehensive technical breakdown.

"The detail is necessary so our team knows precisely what to build," Murdy explained. "Halloween Horror Nights is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail. While we cater to the casual visitor, we also aim to satisfy the superfan. We're packing the experience with countless Easter eggs—details casual observers might overlook, but dedicated fans of the video game and series will appreciate."

Flood teased a specially designed Pip-Boy that will be a delight to discover, advising guests to inspect every window and building facade for "tiny surprises hidden throughout."

"If you go through the house a second or third time and manage to glance around when you're not completely terrified, you'll spot many of these hidden gems," Flood said.

Finally, we asked both creators what aspect they were most thrilled to bring to life for Halloween Horror Nights.

"For me, it was definitely the Wasteland," Murdy shared. "The transition from the claustrophobic vaults out into the vast Wasteland is exhilarating. But if I think purely in terms of what Horror Nights excels at, it's the Super Duper Mart."
