Hopetown, a nonlinear RPG developed by Longdue Games, brings a fresh perspective to narrative-driven gameplay. The studio, founded by former employees of ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, has unveiled the first glimpse of the game's mechanics, presenting it as a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium. The storyline follows a journalist who wakes up in a mining town after a night of heavy drinking. As players battle a pounding hangover, they must reconstruct the events of the previous night and navigate a burgeoning local conflict, deciding whether to soothe tensions or escalate them.

Screenshots showcase a dialogue-rich experience where player choices profoundly influence the narrative trajectory. The game features multiple archetypes, each providing distinct dialogue options and approaches during interactions. For instance, when conversing with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can choose different tones, which can significantly alter the conversation's outcome.
Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, with an active page already on the platform. Although no release date has been set, excitement is mounting among fans of narrative-focused RPGs.
Hopetown isn't the only game taking inspiration from Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the genre's growing popularity.
