Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases its improved gameplay and control systems, offering a fresh look at this dystopian action RPG. Players will once again battle colossal mechanical creatures, upgrade their equipment, and tackle diverse missions within a resource-depleted world.

This remastered edition boasts significant enhancements, including upgraded visuals, faster-paced action, a refined crafting system, a challenging new difficulty mode, and inclusion of all original customization DLC. Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.

Originally a PlayStation Vita exclusive, Freedom Wars emerged as a response to Capcom's decision to bring the Monster Hunter series to Nintendo consoles. While distinct in its futuristic setting, the core gameplay loop mirrors Monster Hunter: players fight massive mechanical enemies ("Abductors"), collect their parts, and upgrade their gear for increasingly powerful combat.

Bandai Namco's new trailer provides a detailed look at the gameplay. It introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, navigating a harsh world where resources are scarce. Missions, ranging from civilian rescues and Abductor destruction to capturing control systems, can be undertaken solo or cooperatively online. These missions are crucial to contributing to the player's Panopticon, their city-state.

Freedom Wars Remastered: Gameplay Enhancements

The trailer highlights several key improvements. Visually, the game sees a significant upgrade: PS5 and PC versions reach 4K (2160p) resolution at 60 FPS, while the PS4 version offers 1080p at 60 FPS, and the Switch version runs at 1080p, 30 FPS. Gameplay is noticeably faster, enhanced by improved mechanics, increased movement speed, and the ability to cancel weapon attacks.

Crafting and upgrading have also undergone a complete overhaul. The new interfaces are more intuitive, and modules can now be attached and detached at will. Module synthesis, a new feature, allows players to enhance modules using resources obtained by rescuing citizens. Finally, a "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to seasoned players, and all previously released customization DLC from the original PS Vita version is included from the start.
