In a recent interview, director Junya Ishizaki shed light on the innovative features of the upcoming game, Elden Ring Nightreign. One of the most exciting aspects he revealed is the dynamic nature of the game's map, which will feature "significant landscape changes in the form of procedurally generated volcanoes, swamps, and forests."
We wanted the map itself to feel like a gigantic dungeon, allowing players to explore it in new ways each time. At the end of the third in-game day, players will need to choose a boss to face.

This design choice aims to diversify gameplay and encourage players to adopt different strategies for the final boss battle on each playthrough. By the end of the third in-game day, players must decide which boss they will confront. This decision not only allows for strategic preparation but also influences the exploration of the map, enabling players to seek out locations that offer advantages against the chosen boss.

Upon choosing a boss, players may consider the best way to prepare for the fight, which could alter their route on the map. We wanted to give players that freedom— for example, deciding, 'I need to acquire poisonous weapons to counter this boss.'

Ishizaki clarified that the integration of roguelike elements into Elden Ring Nightreign is not merely a trend-following move. Instead, it serves to "compress" the role-playing experience, making the game more dynamic and engaging for players.
