ASTRA: Knights of Veda is set to remove its English voiceovers following maintenance scheduled for January 23, 2025. Dive deeper to understand the reasoning behind this language adjustment in the game.

The developers at FLINT have decided to eliminate English dubbing in ASTRA: Knights of Veda on January 23, 2025, aiming to enhance "game stability and improve the quality of localizations." This decision was announced on January 20, as part of a broader Language Support adjustment to bolster the game's performance and localization efforts.

Scheduled maintenance on January 23 will result in the removal of support for several languages, including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. However, FLINT will continue to support Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian.

While English text support remains intact, the in-game English voiceovers will be discontinued. Post-maintenance, "countries outside of Korea will automatically have their In-Game Voice option set to Japanese." FLINT has reassured players that this change will not impact their ability to communicate in any of the languages that were removed.

Despite potential concerns from fans, FLINT is committed to enhancing the gaming experience, promising to "continue to do our best to provide better services and experiences for our Masters of the Book."

Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers

FLINT is not alone in this decision; other gacha games have also moved away from English voice-over support. For instance, Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone have all taken similar steps.

In May 2024, Square Enix announced the removal of English voice-overs for new content in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, starting from Main Story Part 3, Chapter 8, and Another Story Chapter 3, Scene 7. Existing chapters will retain their English voice-overs, but future content will default to Japanese. This shift aims to prioritize the Japanese language for the game's ongoing narrative.

Aether Gazer's developers announced in February 2024 the complete removal of English voice-overs post the "Crepuscular Cloudsong" update, citing financial challenges. The decision was made to redirect resources towards improving gameplay, performance, and future content.

Similarly, Snowbreak: Containment Zone's developers opted to remove English voice-overs in December 2023, starting with Version 1.4, after evaluating player preferences and aiming to optimize the gaming experience. Some content will now automatically switch to Japanese voice-over.

These decisions across various gacha games reflect a focus on aligning with player language preferences and optimizing resource allocation. By prioritizing languages that are more commonly used by their player base, developers can ensure a more tailored experience. Additionally, the long-term costs associated with maintaining English voice-overs can be significant, and reallocating these resources can help sustain the game's development and enhance key areas valued by players.
