The inZOI team confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game following reports over the past day that the anti-tamper software was included in the Creative Studio mode demo. Denuvo’s presence in games has long sparked debate, with many claiming it hampers performance.

This DRM technology aims to block unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, complicating efforts to pirate or crack them.

In a Steam blog post on March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed the issue, confirming that the Early Access build, launching this Friday, will be DRM-free. “We initially adopted Denuvo to safeguard the game from illegal distribution, believing it would protect players who purchased it legitimately. After reviewing community feedback, we realized this decision didn’t reflect our players’ expectations,” Kim stated.

Kim expressed regret for not disclosing Denuvo’s inclusion in Creative Studio mode. He noted that while removing DRM might increase the risk of piracy, it would allow greater flexibility for players to customize their experience. “We believe fostering this creative freedom from the start will spark innovation and lasting enjoyment for our community,” he added.

inZOI Aims for Extensive Modding Support

inZOI has emphasized modding as a core feature, making Denuvo’s inclusion surprising, as it often restricts players’ ability to add mods and custom content.

Kim highlighted, “As shared during our Online Showcase, we’re dedicated to making inZOI highly moddable. Our initial mod support, launching in May, will enable players to use tools like Maya and Blender for custom creations. This is just the start—we plan to broaden modding capabilities over time, offering more ways to personalize your experience.”

He promised a separate update with details on modding support. Krafton remains focused on prioritizing players, adapting to feedback to deliver a high-quality experience.

inZOI’s Early Access launch is set for March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full release planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The full release date remains unconfirmed.
